MOVING?
The excitement of moving to a new area creates the desire to find out all you can about the place you will call home and also take care of necessary things like registering to vote, getting your Florida drivers license and becoming a Florida resident.
DEMOGRAPHICS
Franklin County encompasses 348,000 acres of pristine land. 202,180 acres belongs to the state. The 200 miles of beautiful coastal shoreline attract people to the sand and the surf. The county is made up of several little areas: St. George Island, Eastpoint, Alligator Point, Carrabelle and Apalachicola.
Population in the County – 10,200 in 2005
10,161 in 2002
8,967 in 1990
Projected growth – 10,600 in 2010
Projected population growth
The area is expected to grow but keep its love and respect of the environment and nature. Single family residences make up the majority of structures that exist. The county imposes height restrictions that only allow a person or developer to build up to three stories in height. This keeps the fast progression of high-rise condominiums that are seen in so many other places in Florida from arriving. The valuable growth in our area exists in quality homes and good people.
